Thumbs up to everyone that participated in the Zoom reception to commemorate our effort to mitigate the effect of Covid-19 on several low income schools across the four geopolitical zones in Nigeria through the Education Beyond Classroom by Produce Africa Development and Entrepreneurial Initiative.
Application for the opportunity which kicked off 6th May via the link: https://www.produceafrica.org/ebc/index.php, ended on 19th June 2020.
After days of scrutinizing several applications by a team of individuals randomly selected across different profession, forty schools ended up qualifying as beneficiaries of the initiative. Their qualification was based on the criteria in some paragraphs below.
Twenty three Schools, so far, out of the forty qualified schools have been verified (confirmed to have supplied correct information).
Education Beyond Classroom is an initiative rolled out by Produce Africa Development and Entrepreneurial Initiative in collaboration with IndexPortal Globe, Chokie Telecoms Ltd, Linsan Investment Ltd and Centdoor Limited to sponsor forty low income schools to set up online class rooms to facilitate uninterrupted teacher-student engagement, and training of teachers to become equipped to teach remotely.
A low income school in this regard implies a school in which a student’s yearly tuition amounts below one-hundred and fifty dollars, or, schools that cannot afford Learning Management Software due to low income generation.
The idea is to truncate the setback of Learning Management Software cost and to provide easy access to learning resources to facilitate both effective teaching and learning.
In the first phase 23 schools benefit instantly from the initiative. And they were announced on 25th June 2020 over a Zoom reception which featured speakers from Interswitch Nigeria and Annibol Group addressing topics on the role of technology to learning during the Covid-19. The reception equally served as a forum for school owners and representatives to share the strategies and methods they have individually adopted, so far, to keep learning going remotely and their challenges. The event kicked off by 2.00 pm Central Africa Time, and lingered for about an hour and thirty minutes. Over forty schools were represented at the event.
We are quite impressed by the submissions of all those that qualified. Below are the list of schools that qualified and that we have also verified. As we verify more the list will become lengthier
